Google's serch engine optimization guidelines state: Think about the words users would type to find your pages, and make sure that your site actually includes those words within it. Even before we prepare the text to be included in our web pages, we must perform keyword research to identify the keywords or key phrases that our potential visitors will use when they search through the search engines. Then we must use these keywords, at the right placement, in our page content. There are some tools and techniques that we can use to identify suitable keywords. A keyword that is already found on millions of other websites may not be the best choice for a high ranking. The competition might be too much. Often, choosing a three or four word phrase might be best, provided it is a phrase that potential visitors would search for. Our web design must ensure that our selected keywords will be prominent on our web pages. So we need to repeat the keywords a few times. But if we repeat them too often, then they will look like spam. And if they look like spam, the search engines might penalize our web page and rank it low.
