WEB DESIGN: INFORMATION-RICH CONTENT

Google's web design guidelines state:

Create a useful, information-rich site, and write pages that clearly and accurately describe your content.

In this guideline, Google explains that your site should be filled with useful information. A site cannot be "filled with useful information" if it has only a couple of web pages. So consider having many informative pages.

The pages should also be well written. Take care of your grammar and spelling, choice of words, and all aspects of good writing.

You are also required to "accurately describe your content". So if you start your page describing one thing, then the rest of the page should be related to the same thing.

This guideline is an important one for Google. Google wishes to rank good, informative websites high because it will satisfy the searchers. It can be very irritating for a searcher to open one page after another only to find that the contents are not what he or she wants. So write a good, clear, focussed and informative page on whatever your subject is, and you improve your chances for a high search engine ranking.
